The Church Bar and Restaurant Welcomes You To Relax and Dine

We welcome diners to enjoy our building food wine & service . The food we serve is all sourced locally and our intention is to serve simple traditional English food well, we hope you will enjoy what we do.

The Church Bar and Restaurant was built in 1860 by Welsh Methodist miners who came to this area to find work. In 1920 the National Spiritualist Union took over the church. In 2006 I purchased the church and at this time it was in a state of disrepair and unused. I have restored the church in order for it to become once again a place for people to meet and enjoy its wonderful architecture and ambience. Please be aware that the floor in the restaurant area is the original wooden floor and therefore could cause problems to ladies (or gents) with stiletto heels and can at times be slippy, also the chairs in the restaurant whilst capturing the essence of the church with their spiked pinnacle need to be negotiated with care..

For diners who wish to smoke there is a heated patio area to the rear of the bar lounge , please ask the bar staff

The plumpest freshwater prawns bound in marie rose sauce served with dressed salad.

Chef’s home made duck liver pate served with warm wholemeal toast.

Pan fried cream of garlic & paprika mushroom & peppers served with a timbale of rice.

Stilton & Bacon Crown

Smoked bacon & stilton wrapped in mayonnaise served with dressed salad.

Tropical fresh fruit (v option)

To include melon apple strawberries mango and kiwi part of your five a day.

Ceaser Salad

Smoked chicken & bacon on a bed of dressed salad.

Flambé King Prawn (£4.00 supp)

Large king prawns (and they are huge) flambé in brandy white wine garlic and chilli at your table, you choose how spicy!

Today's roast is magnificent local farm top side roast beef served with seasonal vegetables and potato.

Boneless Lamb Rump

Local farm lamb rump, this is the chef's signature dish and a must for all lamb lovers served with seasonal vegetables and potato. (£4.00 supp)

Chicken

English chicken breast roasted and served with seasonal vegetables and potato.

Fillet Steak

Local farm fillet this magnificent fillet served with a choice of sauces served with seasonal vegetables and potato (£7.00 supp)

Pork Belly

Local farm pork belly with apple sauce served with seasonal vegetables and potato.
